Roller grilles in Bedworth: the essentials

Councils often see roller grilles as more acceptable than solid shutters in town centres. A clear-anodised or powder-coated finish keeps a grille looking smart.

Wide grilles use intermediate posts or a stronger curtain to resist being pushed in. An open curtain lets air and light through, so displays stay on view and the unit does not look closed down.

Options we can specify

  • Removable intermediate posts for wide units
  • Brick-bond, tubular or link lattice
  • Aluminium or steel curtains
  • Optional polycarbonate infill
  • Suited to shopping centre unit fronts
  • Solid kick panel option

Rules in England

Planning permission for shopfront shutters

In England an external shutter on a shopfront is usually treated as development that needs planning permission from the local planning authority, and a listed building also needs listed building consent. Many councils' shopfront design guides favour internal shutters, perforated or open-grille designs and boxes hidden behind the fascia, and some refuse solid external shutters in conservation areas and on main shopping streets.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Roller grilles: common questions

Do you cover Bedworth?

Yes. We survey, fit and repair roller grilles in Bedworth and the CV12 district, as part of our coverage across Warwickshire.

Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?

A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.

Can things be passed through a grille?

Small items can pass through an open lattice. Polycarbonate infill panels close the gaps if that is a concern.

Can a grille cover a very wide unit?

Yes, with a stronger curtain or removable intermediate posts to keep it rigid.

Who carries out the work?

Work is carried out by experienced shutter engineers working for S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which is the company your contract is with.

How long does it take from order to fitting?

Shutters are made to measure after the survey, so the lead time depends on the product, colour and any security rating. We confirm it in your quote.
