How shutter servicing & maintenance works, and what to ask for

Small issues like worn bearings or loose fixings are cheaper to fix early than after a breakdown. A service record helps show insurers and inspectors that the shutter is looked after. Multi-site and multi-shutter contracts can be scheduled together so every door is covered.

Servicing can extend the life of motors and springs by keeping the curtain running freely. Each visit ends with a written report listing what was checked and anything that needs attention.

Features to choose from

  • Safety edge and photocell testing
  • Spring tension and balance checks
  • Multi-shutter and multi-site contracts
  • Cleaning and lubrication of guides and bearings

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

  3. Fixed repair price

Is servicing a legal requirement?

In workplaces, the employer or person in control of the premises must keep powered doors maintained in efficient working order and safe for staff and the public. Regular servicing with a record is the practical way to show that.

Can you service shutters across several sites?

Yes, we can schedule planned maintenance across multiple sites with one report format.

What is checked on a service?

The curtain, guides, barrel, springs, motor, limits, controls, locks and safety devices, followed by a written report.

Do you repair shutters fitted by other companies?

Yes. We repair and service most makes of roller shutter, grille and industrial door, whoever fitted them.

Can I get a quote from photos?

Photos and approximate sizes let us give you a guide price quickly. A survey is still needed before a shutter is made, because it is built to exact measurements.
