Fire shutters in Bridlington: the essentials

A fire shutter that sticks or closes too slowly may not protect the opening, which is why drop tests matter. Product certification and test evidence come from the manufacturer, and we provide the documentation with the shutter.

Fire shutters are tested as complete assemblies, and their fire resistance is quoted in minutes for integrity and, where needed, insulation. The rating has to match the fire strategy for the wall the shutter sits in, which is set by the building's fire design.

What's included

  • Alarm-linked closing with fusible link backup
  • Manufacturer's test evidence and certification
  • Fail-safe or gravity closing on power loss
  • Counter, hatch and large-opening versions
  • Fire resistance from 60 to 240 minutes, product dependent
  • Planned servicing to keep it compliant

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

Questions about fire shutters in Bridlington

Do you cover Bridlington?

Yes. We survey, fit and repair fire shutters in Bridlington and the YO16 district, as part of our coverage across East Riding of Yorkshire.

What rating do I need?

The rating must match the fire-resisting wall the shutter is in, which is set by the building's fire strategy or fire risk assessment. We work from that, or from your fire engineer's specification.

Will a fire shutter close in a power cut?

Fire shutters are designed to close on loss of power or on a fire signal, usually by gravity with a governed speed, so they fail safe.

Do you certify fire shutters?

The fire rating belongs to the manufacturer's tested product. We supply certified shutters with their documentation and install them to the manufacturer's instructions.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.

Do you work with landlords and managing agents?

Yes. We quote, fit and service shutters for landlords, managing agents and facilities teams, including multi-site planned maintenance.
